If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.
This will include which regions and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
As your GP surgery we are contracted to provide you with the following travel vaccinations:
- Cholera
- Typhoid
- Hepatitis A
- Poliomyelitis
These aren't vaccinations that are kept in stock so please help us to help you by making sure your travel forms are submitted 6 to 8 weeks in advance. This way we make sure you're protected in time!
Some vaccinations require multiple doses or boosters.
Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Other diseases do have vaccinations available which we can potentially source which is why the more warning you give us, the better we can do for you.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
